| Jews for a Just Peace North Carolina is committed to a just and peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We call for safe and secure states for Israel and Palestine, reached through a cessation of violence against civilians, respect for human rights, and an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. JFAJP-NC works through dialogue, forums, presentations and events. | A slide show entitled Another Piece of the Puzzle: Two Jews Visit the West Bank is now available for your organization.
Tom Stern and Tema Okun would like to show slides and share observations with your organization from their visit to the West Bank at the end of May 2002. The Durham couple had the opportunity to tour many of the cities now in the news before the current incursion and 24-hour curfew made travel there virtually impossible. They went to Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, and Bethlehem, as well as East Jerusalem. They also were able to meet with many people, both Israeli and Palestinian, who generously shared their experiences living and working in the West Bank. The goal of the trip, made by a 12-member delegation of the National Lawyers Guild, was to document the results of the Israeli armys month-long incursion into the West Bank in April and May. Tom and Tema will share what they saw and talk about the ways in which their assumptions and stereotypes were challenged and changed as a result of the trip. Tema and Tom would like to speak to your organization/group. Contact: Tom Stern: 919/490-4448, E-mail: tomsternnc@aol.com or Tema Okun temaokun@aol.com. | ||||
